Chad Dickerson, CEO Of Etsy, Speaks at Duke

Description of Duke School of Business Video: Etsy, the popular e-commerce site that brought handmade jewelry, vintage items and other personalized high-quality items online starting in 2005, has risen to become a formidable competitor to eBay and other web-commerce platforms. With a banner year in 2012, the site’s overall community sales increased 70% from the prior year to over $895 million, and the site’s membership doubled to 22 million members worldwide.

Chad joined Etsy as Chief Technology Officer in September 2008 and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in July 2011. Chad came to Etsy from Yahoo!, where he led the Brickhouse and Advanced Products teams and launched the Hack Day program globally. Prior to Yahoo!, he served as CTO of InfoWorld Media Group (IDG), CTO of Salon.com and held various engineering positions at CNN, CNN/Sports Illustrated, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The News & Observer (Raleigh, NC). Chad holds a BA in English literature from Duke University.
